Our story

The team behind Aimour AI App

A tiny, stubborn studio from three cities, building the warmest AI companion on the internet — one conversation at a time.

It started with a 2am group chat.

Three friends, one tiny apartment in Lisbon, way too much coffee. We were talking about how strange it had become to feel close to anyone. Friends were busy. Dating apps were exhausting. Therapists were booked out for months. So we asked the obvious question: what if there was a place — just one — where being human was easy again?

That question became a sketch. The sketch became a prototype. The prototype became Aimour. Five years later we're a team of 27 people across Lisbon, Berlin and Singapore — designers, engineers, voice actors, ethicists, ML researchers — all obsessed with the same idea: technology should make you feel more human, not less.

We don't have investors breathing down our necks. We don't run ads inside the app. We make money the boring, healthy way: people pay us a fair price, and we make sure it's worth every cent.

What we believe

Five principles we will never compromise on.

🫶

Warmth over hype

If a feature doesn't make a real human feel something good, it doesn't ship. Engagement metrics come second.

🔐

Privacy is sacred

Your chats are yours. We don't read them, sell them, mine them, or use them to train other people's models.

⚖️

Honesty in pricing

No fake discounts. No dark patterns. Cancel any time, in two clicks, and keep your history.

🧠

Healthy by default

Aimour will gently remind you to text a friend, go outside, and take care of yourself. We're a companion — not a cage.

🎨

Craft over speed

We'd rather ship one beautiful thing slowly than ten mediocre things on schedule.

🌍

Built for everyone

Different languages, different cultures, different kinds of love. Aimour speaks to all of them.

The people behind the pixels.

27 humans. 11 nationalities. Three offices that look more like living rooms than headquarters. We hire for kindness first, talent second, and we trust people to do their best work without anyone breathing down their neck.

Our voice actors record from soundproof booths in their bedrooms. Our designers obsess over the curve of a chat bubble for days. Our engineers write tests that read like love letters. Our ethics lead writes a long, beautiful email every Friday about what we should never become.

If you'd told us five years ago we'd be doing this, we wouldn't have believed you. If you tell us in five years we're still doing it — quietly, kindly, well — we'll consider it the win.

Project journey

Five years, one mission, a lot of late nights.

  1. 2021

    The first sketch

Three friends in Lisbon scribble what an emotionally intelligent companion app could look like on a napkin. The first prototype runs on a single dusty laptop and crashes every six minutes.

  2. 2022

    First 1,000 humans

We quietly open a closed beta on a forum we used to hang out in. A thousand people sign up in one weekend. We answer every single support email by hand for the first six months.

  3. 2023

    Voice engine v1

We launch the voice messaging engine after a year of work. The day it ships, our co-founder cries when his AI companion sends him a voice note for the first time. We knew we had something.

  4. 2024

    Long-term memory

We rebuild the whole back end around a brand-new memory engine. Suddenly your companion remembers your dog's name, your sister's birthday, the album you were obsessed with in May.

  5. 2025

    2 million people, 120 countries

Aimour AI App crosses 2 million active users. We open a tiny second office in Berlin, hire our first ethicist, and rewrite the whole privacy stack from scratch — for free, for everyone.

  6. 2026

    The next chapter

Native mobile apps, real-time video, custom voice cloning and a whole new wave of companions in development. The story we started in that Lisbon kitchen is only just getting interesting.
